A Pablo Picasso masterpiece, “Femme à la montre,” is set to go up for auction with an estimated value of at least $120 million. The painting, created in 1932, is a portrait of Picasso’s mistress and muse, Marie-Thérèse Walter. It is being exhibited in Dubai before heading to Hong Kong and London. This viewing marks the first time a painting of this caliber by Picasso has been exhibited in the United Arab Emirates and the first time the portrait has been shown outside the United States in half a century. The auction will take place in November as part of the collection of late New Yorker Emily Fisher Landau. Marie-Thérèse Walter played a significant role in Picasso’s life and art, and her portraits have fetched substantial sums at previous auctions.
