RTA Introduces New Weekend Bus Route and Enhancements to Improve Dubai’s Public Transport Network

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to launch a new weekend-exclusive bus route, W20, starting from February 9, 2024. Operating from Friday to Sunday between 5 pm and 11 pm, this service will provide half-hourly departures, connecting Stadium Metro Station with Al Mamzar Beach. The introduction of this service aims to cater to the convenience of bus riders, particularly beachgoers heading to Al Mamzar.

In addition to the new route, the RTA is implementing several enhancements to existing public bus routes to improve the daily transportation experience for passengers. These improvements are designed to streamline bus commuters’ mobility and reduce travel times.

One of the key modifications includes renaming Route 11B to Route 11 to enhance the bus user experience. Routes 16A and 16B will be rerouted and renamed to Routes 16 and 25, respectively. Route 16 will now start from Al Rashdiya Bus Station and head to Al Awir, while Route 25 will start from the Gold Souq Bus Station with Al Rashdiya as its destination.

Further modifications will be made to enhance the travel experience for passengers on specific bus routes. Route F62 will be extended to include Dubai Festival City and the Al Garhoud neighbourhood. Route C04 will extend to the Mohammed bin Rashid Library. Routes 103 and 106 will offer direct, non-stop services from main stations to the Global Village. Route E303 will be rerouted via Al Ittihad Street to Sharjah. Additionally, routes 16A, 16B, and 64A will be discontinued from the same date.

Moreover, RTA’s Public Transport Agency will introduce journey time improvements for 13 bus routes, including routes 5, 7, 62, 81, 110, C04, C09, E306, E307A, F12, F15, F26, and SH1, ensuring faster travel times for passengers.

RTA remains committed to expanding the public bus network and enhancing its integration with other public transport modes, such as the metro, tram, and marine transport means. The authority believes that developing interconnectedness among various transport modes will make them the preferred mobility choice across the emirate.
