Sharjah Authorities Waive Traffic Fines After Record Rains

Community Support and Infrastructure Repairs Follow Unprecedented Weather:

Sharjah Police announced the waiver of all fines for traffic violations committed during the recent heavy rains to assist affected motorists. This decision reflects the force’s commitment to serving society during these challenging times. Additionally, the authority announced the issuance of free vehicle damage certificates for those impacted by the weather in the emirate.

The UAE experienced its heaviest rainfall in 75 years, with April 16 being particularly severe due to the extension of a “low surface pressure” event and two waves of unstable weather. This unprecedented weather led to waterlogged roads and flooding, causing significant challenges for motorists. Many vehicles suffered damage, including technical issues and lost car plates, as they navigated through the flooded streets.

As the extreme weather continued, hundreds of residents were forced to abandon their vehicles on the roadside. With roads submerged under the rising floodwaters, motorists had no choice but to wade through the murky water to safety. The initiative by Sharjah Police to waive traffic fines and provide free vehicle damage certificates comes as a relief to those affected, offering much-needed support during these difficult circumstances.
