Dubai Mall Reinforces Status as Earth’s Most Visited Destination in 2024

Dubai Mall is solidifying its status as the “most visited place on Earth,” welcoming 57 million visitors in the first half of this year, up from 52 million during the same period in 2023. Last year, it achieved a record-breaking attendance of 105 million visitors, marking a 19% increase from the previous year.

During the first six months of 2024, Dubai Mall also saw significant growth in retail sales, up between 8% to 15% compared to last year. Mohamed Alabbar, founder of Emaar, expressed his satisfaction, stating, “This growth reflects the dedication of our team and partners. Dubai Mall continues to lead in retail and leisure, attracting millions globally. We’re committed to elevating every aspect of the mall to maintain its position as a top global destination.”

Recently, Emaar Properties announced a Dh1.5 billion expansion of Dubai Mall, adding 240 new luxury stores, dining options, and entertainment outlets. Since its inauguration in 2008, Dubai Mall has grown to become the world’s second-largest shopping mall, spanning 1.2 million square meters with over 1,200 retail outlets, including anchor department stores, restaurants, and attractions like Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo.

To manage its popularity, Dubai Mall introduced paid parking starting July 1, operated by Salik Company PJSC. While some areas remain free, tariffs can reach up to Dh1,000 for 24-hour parking. Initial feedback from shoppers has been positive, with many appreciating the ease of finding parking close to the entrance.
