The UAE’s recent visa amnesty initiative has revealed that 88% of visa violators who applied to amend their status during the first week have opted to remain in the country. The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) reported this significant trend, highlighting a strong desire among applicants to continue living and working in the UAE.

Benefits of the Amnesty Program

Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the Authority, emphasized the program’s advantages, allowing violators to change their circumstances without leaving the UAE. Those who choose to exit the country can do so without facing bans, fees, or fines. This initiative reflects the UAE’s commitment to respecting human rights and providing opportunities for individuals to regularize their status.

Services Available During the Amnesty

The amnesty program offers six main services to assist violators during the grace period:

  1. Issuing an exit permit
  2. Renewing residency
  3. Issuing residency for a foreigner born in the country
  4. Issuing a new visa for work or residency
  5. Amending the status of a valid visa
  6. Issuing residence permits for violators of work and residency visas
Application Process
