Dubai will implement variable parking fees near event locations starting February 17, 2025, to manage demand and reduce congestion. The public parking operator, Parkin PJSC, announced the new initiative.
Key Changes
-
Event Zone Tariff: A new rate of Dh25 per hour will apply during event hours in the “Grand Event Zone” around the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
-
Public Transport Encouraged: Parkin recommends using public transport to avoid traffic and higher parking costs.
-
Designated Zones: The affected areas around DWTC are designated as the ‘Grand Event Zone’ with zone codes 335X, 336X, and 337X.
Background
The new fees follow a recent increase in parking tariffs in Zone F areas, including Al Sufouh 2, The Knowledge Village, Dubai Media City, and Dubai Internet City. These changes are part of Dubai’s broader strategy to manage congestion and encourage the use of public transportation. Variable Salik toll gate fees also went into effect in January.
How it Works
Parking fees will fluctuate based on event size, timing, and demand. Parkin will communicate pricing through digital signage, mobile applications, and at event locations. The system aims to improve parking availability and incentivize alternative transportation options during peak event times.
