Unpredictable Weather: Dubai Faces Heavy Rainfall and Floods, Residents Advised to Stay Safe

Dubai is experiencing unusual weather patterns, with heavy rainfall and hailstorms disrupting its typically arid climate. The city has been inundated with rain, leading to flooding in several areas. Government employees have been instructed to work from home until February 13, and distance learning will continue in all government schools on that day. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued red and amber alerts, warning of ongoing wet weather. Hail has also been reported in parts of Abu Dhabi, catching residents off guard. The sudden downpour has caused flood-like conditions, with cars navigating through flooded streets and some becoming trapped in standing water due to overwhelmed drainage systems. The NCM has issued an orange weather alert, indicating continued unstable weather. Thunder and lightning were reported early Monday morning, attributed to an upper air depression, a cold air mass, and a westerly air current affecting the region. Road and public service departments have issued safety advisories for motorists, and a lightning strike was observed at the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest man-made structure.
