Ajman Municipality has launched a comprehensive crackdown on veterinary establishments, enforcing stricter penalties to ensure compliance with federal regulations. This initiative comes in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCAE) and emphasizes the importance of environmental safety and proper veterinary practices.

New Fines for Violations

Under the new regulations, veterinary facilities that fail to comply with safety standards will face fines ranging from Dh10,000 to Dh500,000. This enforcement aligns with Federal Law No. 9 of 2017 concerning veterinary products. Dr. Khalid Moeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector in Ajman, confirmed that the municipality is conducting periodic inspection campaigns to monitor compliance among clinics and pharmacies.

Safe Disposal of Expired Products

One key requirement is the safe disposal of expired veterinary products. Veterinary establishments must dispose of these products through accredited specialized companies within three months of expiration. This measure aims to prevent environmental pollution and ensure public health.

Documentation and Compliance

Dr. Al Hosani highlighted the need for proper documentation, including:

  • A valid license to practice veterinary services

  • A facility license issued by the Ministry

  • A public health pest control contract

  • A safe disposal contract for veterinary materials

  • Sales and purchase invoices for veterinary products

These documents are essential for verifying compliance with regulations.

Key Directives for Veterinary Establishments

As part of the inspections, Ajman Municipality has issued critical directives to veterinary establishments:

  •   Restricted Use of Veterinary Pesticides : To prevent misuse and ensure safety.

  • Sourcing from Approved Suppliers : Veterinary medicines must be sourced exclusively from licensed suppliers with documented proof.

  • Trade Only with Licensed Businesses : Establishments must adhere strictly to trading with Ministry-registered veterinary businesses.

Dr. Al Hosani reiterated that maintaining high standards in veterinary practices is crucial for safeguarding public health and ensuring animal welfare in Ajman.
