Warning from Dubai Municipality: Clear Neglected Vehicles at Testing Centers

Dubai Municipality has launched a crackdown on neglected vehicles at nine registration and testing centres across the Emirate. Owners who fail to reclaim their vehicles promptly face confiscation, according to recent announcements. The campaign, targeting locations such as Warsan, Qusais, and Al Barsha, aims to clear parking lots of abandoned vehicles.

Authorities have issued 68 clearance alerts, 38 posters, and 30 text messages urging owners to remove their vehicles. The response rate has been notable, with 95% of owners addressing the notices promptly.

Upon identifying a neglected vehicle, authorities issue a warning period of three to 15 days, depending on its condition and location. Owners of Dubai-registered vehicles receive an SMS notification. Vehicles not claimed within the specified period are towed to the impoundment yard in Al Awir. Owners can retrieve their vehicles by contacting the municipality before they are auctioned.

Saeed Safar, director of Dubai Municipality’s Waste Operations Department, highlighted the formation of a monitoring team to oversee neglected vehicles, encompassing light and heavy vehicles, trailers, and boats. This initiative involves collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority and a specialized company for vehicle seizure.

Residents are reminded to ensure suitable parking arrangements, especially when away from Dubai, to avoid their vehicles being impounded. This initiative underscores Dubai Municipality’s commitment to maintaining orderly parking facilities across the city.
