Dubai’s passport-free travel: Emirates passengers to walk through check-in, immigration with the new smart passage

Dubai Airports is set to introduce passport-free travel for passengers at Terminal 3 later this year. Biometrics and facial recognition technology will be used to enable passengers to check-in and board the aircraft using their identity, eliminating the need for physical passports. This development is expected to be implemented around November-December. The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) will introduce a smart passage system at Terminal 3 in November, allowing passengers to clear all procedures using their biometrics. The use of biometrics and facial recognition aims to make travel smoother, more seamless, and faster at airports. However, officials also stressed the need for data sharing between airports to expedite passenger flow.
