Dubai has officially announced a public holiday for the Hijri New Year, giving government employees a well-deserved three-day weekend starting Friday, June 27, 2025. Normal office hours will resume on Monday, June 30.

Who Will Get the Day Off?

All government departments, entities, and institutions across Dubai will observe the holiday. However, certain sectors—such as essential public services, shift-based operations, and vital facilities—will maintain operations based on internal scheduling and service needs.

Paid Holiday for Private Sector Employees

The UAE government has also confirmed that Friday, June 27, will be a paid public holiday for private sector workers, ensuring a nationwide observance of the Islamic New Year.

Start of the Islamic Year 1447 AH

The Hijri New Year marks the beginning of Muharram, the first month in the Islamic lunar calendar. Authorities confirmed this date in accordance with the official 2025 holiday calendar issued by the UAE Cabinet.
