Dubai Prepares for New Year’s Celebrations: Free Parking and Extended Metro Services

As Dubai gears up to bid farewell to 2023 and welcome the new year, residents are in for a treat with free parking across all areas (excluding multistorey car parks) on January 1. This initiative aims to facilitate celebrations and encourage residents to explore the festivities without the hassle of parking fees.

To ensure a seamless transition into the new year, Dubai Metro will operate round the clock, starting from 8 am on Sunday, December 31, until 11.59 pm on Monday night. The extended metro services aim to alleviate traffic congestion and provide a convenient transportation option for those planning a night out on New Year’s Eve.

Dubai Tram services will kick off at 9 am on Sunday, December 31, and continue uninterrupted until 1 am on Tuesday morning, offering additional transportation choices for revelers.

Dubai Police has also rolled out its New Year’s Eve safety plan, deploying thousands of officers and implementing road closures in key areas, including Downtown Dubai. From 4 pm on Sunday, Al Asayel Street, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, and Burj Khalifa Street will be sealed off to manage the expected influx of attendees for the annual Burj Khalifa fireworks display.

In anticipation of high demand, the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station is scheduled to close at 5 pm or earlier if capacity limits are reached. The coordinated efforts by Dubai authorities aim to ensure a safe and enjoyable New Year’s celebration for residents and visitors alike.
