On January 7, 2025, Sharjah announced a new decision to revise the fees for releasing vehicles impounded due to serious traffic violations. This decision applies to all vehicle types and targets owners or drivers whose vehicles were impounded for offenses such as reckless driving and negligence.
Focus on Road Safety
These serious offenses pose significant risks to public safety and property. The revised fees aim to facilitate the return of vehicles once the legal impoundment period expires while enhancing road safety and deterring dangerous driving behaviors. For instance, riding motorcycles in restricted areas will incur a release fee of Dh20,000, while driving without a license will result in a Dh30,000 fee.

During its latest session, the Sharjah Executive Council discussed various agenda items aimed at evaluating the performance of government departments. The Council emphasized reviewing legal frameworks that support the financial sector and foster economic growth across key sectors.
